You may have set a goal for yourself to achieve. The goal will not change – but the way of achieving your goal may change.
But your indecisiveness in choosing the way to accomplish your goal will be a hindrance to achieving your goal.
Learn from Lot’s wife. Do not look back.
“But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.”
Genesis 19:26 NIV
The place which was previously your comfort zone is no longer a conducive place for you to grow.
“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon.”
Exodus 14:1-2 NIV
The Lord may have purposely put you in a situation where you are surrounded by various difficulties.
In the Israelites’ case, they were hemmed in by the Red Sea and Pharoah’s army.
Though the Israelites were faced with a pressing situation, these complaining people were unaware that this was God’s plan to wipe out Pharoah’s strong army.
These pressing circumstances were also there to show the Israelites that they could safely trust in God’s deliverance against even the strongest army of their times.
The display of God’s power and deliverance by wiping out Pharoah’s mighty army, would serve to be the first of many deliverances God could and would do throughout the Israelites’ journey through the desert and into the Promised Land.
Are you complaining about a situation that you are in right now? If your dire circumstances are not a result of sin or poor decisions, consider this – God has deliberately placed you in an uncomfortable place to grow, because you have ‘chosen what is better’.
Therefore, do not try to escape your current circumstances. There is no need for the “Martha” within you to try to persuade the “Mary” within you to change the method of achieving what is better for you. (See the post / article entitled “Being Decisive 1 – The Debate of Mary and Martha”).
Whether you have chosen the Mary way or the Martha way – be assured that both ways are pleasing to the Lord. Stick to it and see your growth!
